i just got Mac liquid mineral foundation, but the brush is way too expensive. Is a small kabuki brush ok to use instead? Or the soft focus face brush by bareminerals?

I am using Bare Essentuals, which has stopped most of my breakouts but I hate the look of this sheer powder makeup. I think the liquid makeup makes my skin look more smooth and soft. I thought about still using the Bare Essentuals Powder and concealor but using a liquid mineral foundation. Any ideas?
